How it works
Annual pay is the hourly rate multiplied by the hours you work each week and the number of weeks you are paid. Monthly pay divides that yearly total by 12.
If you are paid hourly with no paid leave, reduce the paid weeks to reflect time off. That gives a more honest picture of your real yearly income.
Annual pay = Hourly rate x Hours per week x Paid weeks
Monthly pay = Annual pay / 12Example
At 25 per hour, 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks, annual pay is 25 x 40 x 52 = 52,000, or about 4,333 per month.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an hourly wage to a yearly salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by hours per week and by weeks per year. For a full-time schedule that is the rate times 2,080.
What if I don't get paid holidays?
Enter fewer paid weeks, for example 48, to reflect unpaid time off. The yearly total will drop accordingly.
Is this figure before or after tax?
It matches the rate you enter. Use a gross rate to get gross annual pay.
Why is my monthly pay not exactly one twelfth of weekly pay times four?
Months are longer than four weeks. A year has about 4.33 weeks per month, so dividing the annual total by 12 is more accurate than multiplying weekly pay by four.
